Scrape LinkedIn Profiles into Google Sheets | Replacing Clay Ep. 4

Overview

Use SheetXAI to request a concise summary for each LinkedIn profile URL in a spreadsheet. For a list, a subagent handles one row and writes the result beside that row's URL when the page can be accessed. A row may instead return Blocked when the page cannot be read. A summary is generated text and should be checked against the actual profile before it is used.

Company and contact names with LinkedIn profile URLs ready for summary output.

Set up the URL and summary columns

Use one profile per row and these separate columns:

  • Column A: Company
  • Column B: Contact name
  • Column C: LinkedIn URL
  • Column D: LinkedIn Summary

Use one profile URL per row and check that each URL belongs to the named contact. Leave the summary column empty. Use URLs and content you are allowed to process, and follow the terms and policies that apply to the site and your use case.

Request profile summaries

The prompt below tells subagents to process each row independently and places the result in column D. Change the column references to match your sheet:

Use subagents to process the LinkedIn URLs row by row. For each row, read only the LinkedIn URL in column C and write a concise summary of the profile in column D. If the page cannot be accessed or does not provide enough information, say Blocked or Not available instead of guessing.
  1. Confirm each LinkedIn URL belongs to the contact listed in that row and select only the rows you need to process.
  2. Run the prompt on a small sample first. Check that each result lands beside the correct URL and that a page that cannot be read is marked Blocked or Not available, rather than filled with a guess.
  3. Refine the output format or summary length if needed, then ask SheetXAI to process the remaining selected rows.
  4. Review the output and verify useful details on a profile you can access or another reliable source before using them.

Handle blocked and uncertain results

Example profile-summary results, including rows marked Blocked when a page could not be accessed.

Blocked means the page was not accessible to the request. Do not infer profile details from that status. A generated summary can be incomplete or mistaken even when text is returned, and it may not belong to the person named in the row. Verify details against the profile or another reliable source. This guide describes requests for accessible profile information; it does not bypass LinkedIn access restrictions.

If access fails, check that the URL is valid and that you can access the page. If it remains unavailable, leave the row marked blocked or unavailable and use an authorized source or review it manually. Do not treat a plausible summary as verification.

Troubleshooting

  • The result is Blocked: The page could not be accessed in that run. Check the URL and access, then retry only if appropriate.
  • The wrong person appears: Confirm the URL and the company/contact pairing; compare with a reliable profile source.
  • The summary includes unsupported claims: Remove them or verify each detail independently, then revise the prompt to request only information present on the page.
  • The result is empty or vague: Confirm the output column and selected rows, and retry only where you can access the source.
