Troubleshooting: Understanding Error Messages in SheetXAI

The Problem

You're seeing an error message in SheetXAI but don't know what it means or how to fix it.

Common Error Messages and Solutions

"Bad Request" Error

What it means: Usually an account or permission issue.

How to fix:

  1. Try reauthorizing SheetXAI
  2. Check that you're using the correct Google/Microsoft account
  3. Verify your account has active SheetXAI access

"API Key Invalid" Error

What it means: Your API key is incorrect, expired, or has formatting issues.

How to fix:

  1. Check your API key in Settings
  2. Verify there are no extra spaces before or after the key
  3. Confirm the key is complete (not truncated)
  4. Generate a new API key from your provider if needed

"Insufficient Credits" Error

What it means: Your API provider account doesn't have enough credits or balance.

How to fix:

  1. Check your account balance with your API provider
  2. Add credits or upgrade your subscription
  3. Verify you're using the correct API provider account
  4. Check if there are any payment issues with your provider

"Integration Not Found" Error

What it means: The integration isn't enabled or hasn't been added to your sheet.

How to fix:

  1. Make sure the integration is enabled in Settings
  2. Check if you need to add the integration via the "+" icon next to "current sheet"
  3. Verify your API key/credentials for that integration

"#NAME Error" (Google Sheets)

What it means: The SAI formula hasn't been activated in your spreadsheet.

How to fix:

  1. Go to Extensions → SheetXAI → Activate SAI Formula
  2. This needs to be done once per spreadsheet

"Permission Denied" Error

What it means: SheetXAI doesn't have the necessary permissions.

How to fix:

  1. Reauthorize SheetXAI
  2. Grant all requested permissions when prompted
  3. Check that you're using the correct account

"Connection Timeout" or "Network Error"

What it means: There's a network connectivity issue or the service is temporarily unavailable.

How to fix:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Try again in a few moments
  3. Clear cache and refresh - see our Cache and Refresh guide
  4. Check if the API provider's service is operational
