Using the Auto-Confirm Feature in SheetXAI
Overview
The Auto-Confirm feature allows you to streamline your workflow by automatically confirming AI-suggested actions without requiring additional manual approval. This time-saving toggle eliminates the need to repeatedly type "yes" when performing batch operations or repetitive tasks in your spreadsheet.
Platform Availability: This feature works identically in both Google Sheets and Excel versions of SheetXAI.
How It Works
When you request SheetXAI to perform actions that modify your spreadsheet (such as deleting columns, reformatting data, or reorganizing information), the AI typically asks for confirmation before making changes. With Auto-Confirm enabled, the system automatically responds "yes" to these confirmation prompts, creating a smoother, faster workflow.
Important: Only use Auto-Confirm when you are 100% certain that your instructions are clear and unambiguous. Simple, direct commands like "delete column C" or "format column B as currency" are ideal for Auto-Confirm.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Open SheetXAI
- In Google Sheets: Click the SheetXAI icon in the sidebar or go to Extensions → SheetXAI → Open Chat
- In Excel: Click the SheetXAI tab in the ribbon, then click Open SheetXAI
-
Enable Auto-Confirm
- Locate the Auto-Confirm toggle in the SheetXAI sidebar
- Click the toggle to switch it from off to on
- When enabled, the toggle will be highlighted to indicate auto-confirm is active
-
Use SheetXAI Normally
- Enter your requests as you typically would
- When SheetXAI suggests an action that would normally require confirmation, it will now proceed automatically
- You'll see the action performed without being prompted to confirm
-
Disable When Needed
- For sensitive operations where you want to review suggestions first, simply toggle Auto-Confirm off
- Return to the toggle and click it again to disable automatic confirmation
Pro Tips
-
Only Use with Clear Instructions: Auto-Confirm works best with straightforward, unambiguous commands. For example, "delete column C" is clear, while "clean up my data" might be too vague for Auto-Confirm.
-
Task Batching: With Auto-Confirm enabled, try batching multiple tasks in a single request for maximum efficiency: "Remove duplicates in column A, format column B as dates, and sort the entire sheet by column C"
-
Toggle Strategy: Enable Auto-Confirm for routine, low-risk tasks, and disable it when working with critical data or when you're making significant structural changes
-
Review Before Executing: Even with Auto-Confirm enabled, consider describing your intended changes first and asking SheetXAI to explain what will happen before issuing the actual command
-
Undo Option: Remember that spreadsheet operations can typically be undone, with Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) in Google sheets or with version history in Excel, if an auto-confirmed action doesn't produce the desired result
When NOT to Use Auto-Confirm
- Complex, Multi-Step Operations: When your request requires multiple interpretations or decisions
- Irreversible Actions: When performing operations that can't be easily undone
- Critical Data Work: When working with essential data where mistakes could be costly
- Ambiguous Requests: When your instructions could be interpreted in multiple ways
- First-Time Operations: When trying a new type of request you haven't used before
